As always, YMC and Scandinavian-based Norse Projects kill it with simple pieces that every man should have in their wardrobe. Another place that's top on my list is New York City's Nepenthes. Nepenthes has become stomping ground for style junkies, and they've released some new looks from Engineered Garments. I'm digging the reversible Brookline jacket, which gives you the option to keep it simple, or rock some bold camouflage. Happy Spring, fellas. Have fun.<br />

I haven't been able to attend either, but I've come across some dope (and not-so-dope) looks on the interwebs. My childhood hero, Walter Van Beirendonck nailed it. Walter's collections are always over-the-top spectacles that never fail to impress, or a at least open your eyes. This season there was a mix of creepy and wacky. Masked models came out wearing eye-popping colors and rubber boots. The nod to fetishism would normally garner an eye-roll, but it's not a tired, hyper masculine Tom of Finland vibe that we've all seen before. It's like Jason Voorhees jumped in a tub of orange paint and decided to hit the town. Walter's been reminding us to have fun with clothes for over two decades, and is one of the few designers who can truly play with fashion without pumping out fatuous garbage. I'll be rocking some of this stuff next winter, if my bank account permits me to do so. <br />

It's been a minute since I've rocked twelve layers, a scarf, and a hat. Here are some of my favorite fall looks for F/W 2012, and some things I think you should stray away from. As much as I love fall, remember that some things make you look like a clown, fellas. Keep it simple, and remember that belts are only to be worn around your waist. No need to be cinching that waist unless it's Halloween and you're dressing up as Halle Berry in Catwoman. A cap, a jacket (or two), a scarf, and some dope shoes and you're good to go. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

For S/S 2012, Jeremy Scott has moved on from french fries to a transvestite rodeo. Unsure of what to get your pops for Father's Day? Try buying him a denim peek-a-boo bustier top that will be sure to get the ladies all hot and bothered. I'm all for having fun with fashion and playing with gender roles, but this shit is so ridiculous that even Oscar De La Hoya is like "oh girl, no she didn't!" Everything in this collection is sure to hit the Gilt site two days after dropping in stores. You need a lobotomy if you think wearing Jeremy Scott makes you the coolest kid on the block. Timothy was the first friend I made when I moved to San Francisco two years ago. In fact, we were already BFFs via email before I moved out west. Timothy's one of the very few people I know who is unapologetic about walking in to a San Francisco leather/crystal meth/Idon'<wbr></wbr>tknowwhatthefucktocallyou bar wearing white loafers, a bowtie, and an irreverent grin. There's never a time when Timothy doesn't look impeccable. He has the best hair in San Francisco, hands down.</span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />

How has your style evolved from the early 2000s to today?</span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">For starters, my clothes aren't so goddamned tight. In 2002 I dressed like an irony-drenched sausage, complete with Monica Lewinski's haircut. Honestly, I'm a terribly lazy dresser so it's probably more remarkable how my style, or at least MO, hasn't changed that much. I have a habit of picking a uniform and just hoarding a bunch of similar pieces and rotating them. But the same themes keep popping up: borrowed nostalgia, prep school, class tourism, self-deprecation, Molly Ringwald.</span></div></div><div class="im"><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />

I have a hard time editing. A lot of it's gone, but I kept all of the vintage designer logo stuff. It's so timelessly vulgar. I still have neon Christian Dior slap bracelets circa 2001. And my 70s Gucci shopper tote still proves excellent for occasional beer smuggling.</span></div></div><div class="im"><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />

</span> </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Tell me about working at a vintage store in Seattle. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">On paper it was terrible. I was the poorest I've been in my adult life, uninsured for the bulk of 7 years, the building would reach 100 degrees in the summer, I had to deal with junkie miscreants on an hourly basis, some of the regular pickers were borderline sociopaths. And it was the best fucking job I've ever had. Everyone gives a ton of lip service to independent spirit or whatnot, but cities are inherently expensive places and you don't always have the option to run a business 100 percent by your rules. The owners were this yuppie stoner couple that made their fortune exporting vintage denim to Japan in the 80s and 90s, but had no desire to run a business anymore. They also owned the building, so overhead was virtually zero, which meant we could truly do whatever we wanted as long as it made some money. So I got to work every day with my best friends, and it was like a pop culture museum meets neighborhood clubhouse. Plus I nearly mastered the fine art of drinking on the job. It was amazing.</span></div></div><div class="im"><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span> </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Your feelings on San Francisco "style"?</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">I get frustrated by the fact that SF can be so rigid when it comes to style. Body type strongly dictates, at least for faggots, where you drink, who you hang out with, how you dress, who you fuck, etc. And let's be honest, the daddies run this town. Which is why I get off on showing up at, say, The Powerhouse dressed like a complete dandy poof. I mean, don't get me wrong. I love slumming. But I'm also totally offended by the notion that "real men" not only don't dress well, but actually go out of their way to be studiously unfashionable. It's smacks of internalized homophobia. Fuck you and your cargo shorts.</span></div></div></span></span></span></div></div><div class="im" style="border-collapse: collapse;"><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;"><br />

</div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;">There are very few people who have been (or currently in) the spotlight who have their own style. Turn on the television and you see celebrity after celebrity rocking designer garb with no thought. Men certainly don't stand out. I've always admired people who are not afraid to incorporate some pizazz in their look. This brings me to one of my style heroes, Biggie Smalls. </div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 14.0px;"><br />
</div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;">Not only one of the greatest MC's of the past two decades, he did it with style and in-your-face flamboyance. Biggie always had a distinct look: Kangol tilted to the side, big sunglasses, and a "fuck you" attitude. No one will ever make a fur jacket look quite as good as he did. Cosby sweaters and big chains: this dude was not someone who would go unnoticed when walking in a room. </div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 14.0px;"><br />

Michael's recently relocated from New York City (where we met) to Seattle. I normally find an exclusively black wardrobe to be trite, but Michael makes it look interesting. Never one to compromise on what society deems acceptable for a big man, Michael gets an A+. Michael and I chatted over the phone where we discussed his goth adolescence, body positivity, and ponchos.<br />
<br />
<br />
You recently moved from New York City to Seattle. How would you describe the differences in style between the two cities?<br />
<div>In my opinion there is a major difference in style between NYC and Seattle, the largest one being NYC's obsession with the latest trends in fashion and Seattle's mentality that seems to exude "anything goes." That's not to say that Seattle isn't up on trends - because it most certainly is, but there is more of a sense of individuality in which the way people dress here. In NYC it doesn't seem to matter that the way you dress represents yourself as far as hobbies, social activities, employment, etc., the population in the city (and Brooklyn) seems to pay attention to what's so-called "hip" and then everyone sort of ends up looking the same. Although I appreciate NYC being on the cutting edge of fashion in the United States I find that the general lack of distinct styles amongst people is very lacking. <br />
<br />
A total side note is that I have been in Chicago for the last two month which is the third largest city in the United States with (what I believe to be) the absolute worst fashion sense and overall complete lack of style. I feel uninspired in Chicago, people have no idea how to dress well. In NYC I felt like I wanted to be ahead of the game with how I presented myself with clothing. In Seattle I feel like I can wear whatever I want and just be positive about it.<br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>Tell me about your goth adolescence. Who were your main influences, and how do you take pieces from your past in the present?</div><div>Growing up Goth in south Florida was a fashion nightmare. I grew up battling the sun, skinny tanned bodies and a defined line of gender with how males and females "should" be dressed. It wasn't all hell in south Florida, though, I learned how to search for that perfect item of clothing in thrift stores, or just random vintage stores, oddly placed clothing stores in malls or from ordering out of catalogs. I also learned to have a thick skin and a positive attitude about being a fashion fat person since I constantly got ridiculed for dressing the way I did.<br />
<br />
As far as influences go, most of the people I have made into my own personal fashion icons are female musicians or people who blur the line of gender with their style. I honestly believe that the people I took most of my style from was the alternative rock group, L7. They ladies in that band were known for brightly colored hair, wearing shorts with tights, combat boots and flannels and t-shirts ... and I somehow turned that style into the adult version of me. In addition to L7 I felt drawn to the style of Siouxsie Sioux, Darlene Conner on<i>Roseanne</i>, and Rayanne Graff on <i>My So-Called Life</i>. Somehow I ended up taking the pieces from my past and refining them into a more simplistic look by becoming an adult and trying to be mature with how I present myself. I still own more pairs of boots than I do shoes or sneakers and I still love wearing band t-shirts and flannels. Ultimately I just prefer clothing that is black, gray or white and I believe that less is more.<br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>What are your feelings on Witch House?</div><div>Witch House is a horrid title for a useless genre filled with talentless douche bags who think slowing down a pop song or adding hip hop beats to darkwave sounds is a form of music. These kids should be ashamed of themselves for releasing such trash. I also believe that these children behind Witch House have no clue what Goth music is, nor what Goth fashion was and has now evolved into. They give my favorite genre a bad name.<br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>I've always appreciated the fact that you're not unapologetic about wearing what you like. What do you have to say to the assholes out there who think people of size should dress a certain way?</div><div>I have dealt with fat phobia my entire life, specifically for the way I dress. People on the east coast and in the midwest like to "inform" me that fat people should not wear tight pants, or attempt to have any sort of style that isn't just a t-shirt and cargo shorts. Size does not matter when it comes to fashion, what matters is what you do with your style and how you present yourself. Anyone can look good, but on the flip side anyone can look like an idiot. One must be comfortable in their skin before they can be comfortable with what they're putting on it and if people have an issue with it than it's that person's problem NOT yours. <br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>You have a Library Science degree. What's the perfect outfit for a goth librarian?</div><div>Black jeans or black pants, a dark colored pair of desert boots, a gray button up and a black cardigan. And do not forget your black framed glasses.<br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>You've recently shared an affinity for the poncho. Was it moving to the west coast that got more in touch with hippie style?</div><div>I think my obsession with Mexican culture has transferred over into my fashion sense or maybe all that weed has finally gotten to my head. </div><div><br />
</div><div>Worst fashion moment? </div><div>Right now I just want people to get over Gingham.</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />

Poly StyreneToday I lost a hero. Poly Styrene was not only a style icon, but someone who has inspired me for the past eighteen years. You will be missed. <br />
<br />
In 1994, while interning at a local college radio station, I discovered a band that would soon change my life: X-Ray Spex. I had little to no knowledge of punk rock at that time. I was an isolated child trying to channel my anger by vicariously living through Smashing Pumpkins lyrics. I needed something more. I needed someone who I could truly identify with. I found Poly Styrene. A cherubic woman decked in day-glow whose lyrics were comprised of things like “My Mind Is Like A Plastic Bag.” Poly was more to me than just a singer in a band; she was an inspiration. If you go back in punk history, the movement was (and very much still is) run by white, heterosexual men: the type of people who would have had it easy sans the bondage garb. The Sex Pistols never inspired me. I always felt like they were clowns who took themselves too seriously. Poly was something out of the ordinary. She was a plus-size woman of color who was giving a big “fuck you!” to boy’s club. With braces, a killer set of lungs, and a style that was more secretary-on-acid than the omnipresent King’s Road uniform, she paved the way for women in the punk movement , and made life a lot easier for teenage misfits. Much of my generation’s Feminist punk icons (Kathleen Hanna, Beth Ditto, etc.) all cite her as a huge influence. <br />
<br />
I was a misfit who discovered X-Ray Spex 15 years after they disbanded. Poly changed my life in many ways, and I’ve grown up to pave my own way and question authority. Here’s to hoping a new generation of outcasts will be inspired by Poly’s irreverent lyrics, style, and charm. <br />
<br />
Throw on your brightest, shout to the top of your lungs, and have fun! Poly did. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I love you very, very much. R.I.P.<br />

An urban dandy's dream, Unionmade is a beautifully curated shop focusing on quality menswear. You can find everything from vintage Pendelton, to harder to find designers such as Nigel Cabourn. A sea of well-crafted items can be distracting, but you'll also find the staff to be both knowledgeable and helpful. </div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 14.0px;"><br />

You won't be sorry! LA types: good news for you! Unionmade has just opened a second store at the Brentwood Country Mart in Santa Monica. I can't wait to check it out when I'm in Los Angeles.</div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><br />

Juan and I met seven years ago, and bonded over our love for fast cars and fast women (kidding.) Juan has a knack for piecing together classic street and sportswear and making it his own. Mr. Amaya's irreverence, style, and exceptionally good taste are a few of the things that set him apart from most people. I foresee Juan being one of our generation's great taste makers which is why I decided to ask him a few questions relating to his style, net art, and growing up listening to Hardcore. He's a funny guy.</div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 14.0px;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">What has been inspiring you lately?</span></div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Trash, filth, porn, gore, the Charlie Sheen backlash, Intel, Facebook status updates, Cheetos, Trent Reznor / James Murphy collaborations, post-dubstep, Native Americans, the color pink and long sideburns.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"> <br />
You and I grew up on opposite sides of the country, but Hardcore (music, not porn. Well, maybe porn but we'll save that for next time) was a big part of our adolescence. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Does Hardcore still play a part in your personal style?<br />
Definitely. I have a big Discharge patch on the back of my favorite Ed Hardy jacket.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"> <br />
Your work is all over the web. I'm sure many people stumble upon your work while surfing giant internet waves. Tell me a little bit about how you got into graphic design/net art.<br />
It was a total accident. I hate art. Except for Andy Warhol. He's the greatest.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"> <br />
Is there a track you've had on repeat lately?<br />
"Rectal Grave" by Acephalix, off their newest album. The whole album is so good.<br />
<br />
Which items have you been coveting the most?<br />
The MMM 'Wrong Size' sunglasses. They're fun. Also some original Monoton LPs would be nice.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"> <br />
Tell me how you feel about Rick Owens, using only five words. <br />
I don't feel Rick Owens.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"> </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">How many women have you been with?<br />
I think I've been with about 3 women. They've all been over 400 lbs, so I guess that's a lot of women. </span><br />

I'm not much of a sports aficionado, but the cut and look of a baseball uniform from, let's say, 1918 was striking (this is coming from a sartorial point of view, not some bizarre fetishistic kind of thing.) I've been wearing caps from Ebbets Field for the past few months. They're a Seattle based company that specializes in vintage baseball, football, and hockey uniforms and caps. While viewing their website, I found some items that will have you looking sporty and cool. I really appreciate the craftsmanship put into each item, and flannels are made to order. </div><div style="font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times; font-size: small;"><br />

Oppressive heat and having to let go of fifteen layers of wool, scarfing, and cashmere never appealed to me. I'm fair skinned, so I was always too self conscious to wear shorts and short-sleeve shirts. However, after discovering a good pair of shorts and a linen orange gingham vintage button-up, I began embracing my pasty skin. I said goodbye to my inhibitions (and inner goth) and was able to breathe during the summer months. Sure, I miss layering when summer time comes along, but there are countless ways to accessorize a summer look (I'm a big fan of a short-sleeve button-up worn with a pastel pocket square) </div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 14.0px;"><br />
</div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;">Spring/Summer 2011 has a lot of exciting looks in store. I think it's about time young fellas start embracing their nelly side, so I'm more than happy to see the return of floral print. And you can't go wrong with a plaid linen shirts, pocket squares, and shorts!</div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 14.0px;"><br />

However, it's very rare that musician/band members who are effortlessly stylish are recognized. I've never cared about Lenny Kravitz wearing Versace, or over-styled rock stars. Looking back at the days of glam metal makes me vomit. When I was a kid, I was more attracted to the videos on 120 Minutes than Guns n Roses. Growing up with an affinity for fringe music and fashion was not the norm. This brings me to an my endless love affair with two seminal hardcore bands: Nation of Ulysses and Bad Brains. When one thinks of style this genre rarely comes to mind. I grew up listening to Nation of Ulysses, and admiring Ian Svenonius' style. Not only did he have an illuminating stage presence, but his look was saying a lot, effortlessly. Bad Brains is another band that comes to mind. Much like Ian Svenonius and Nation of Ulysses, Bad Brains looked great without making a fashion statement. I have never been a fan of the late 70s punk aesthetic, with superfluous spikes and zippers. Being a minimalist none of that has ever appealed to me. If you look at the images below, you'll see some incredibly sharp fellas, who not only brought the world amazing music, but did it with style. I'm a terminal preppy, yet I still look to these two bands for inspiration, not only in the way I dress, but also in how I approach life. I'd like to salute you, Nation of Ulysses and Bad Brains, for making me feel like I can look good and still be badass.</div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><br />

I consider James not only to be one of my best friends, but somewhat of a mentor. Some of you might be familiar with James' whimsical paintings of cherubic men. I appreciate James' look, as he is never one to shy away from color in both his art work and every day style. JG's a big inspiration, so I took the time out to ask him a few questions.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Once again, special thanks to De Kwok for taking the photos.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">In a body fascist world, I appreciate the fact that you're unapologetic about being a big man. Why do you think so many men of size shy away from experimenting with clothing? </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: Arial;">I don’t know why the chunky guys palette is so often just beige and denim. I get extra excited every time I see one all bright and gussied up. Leigh Bowery died too young to change the world. I love bright sparkly clothing and architecture. Learned all about that stuff living in LV years ago, and still can’t shake my admiration of glitz in clothing too.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: Arial;"><span> </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: Arial;">The bigger you are, the more sparkles!</span><br />

How do you manage to always pick the best pieces at the bargain basement?</span></span></span></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: Arial;">Relentless desire to pinch a penny. I am a brand hunter, and like rejects. If I don’t have an extra button hole on one side of my new button down, I can't leave the house. That is a double digit fashion tip.</span><br />

Brian's a local San Francisco drag queen who has a penchant for putting a look together (whether that is working a pair of jeans and a cardigan, or in a dress and pantyhose) With a great eye and a charismatic personality, Brian never fails in the style department. I sat down with Brian to ask him a few questions about his personal style, and what has influenced him in the past and present. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Special thanks goes out to De </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Kwok</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"> for taking the photos!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">How would you describe your personal style?</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">"Deconstructed post modern urban." Actually, anyone that comes up with a concept like this is a douche bag/student at </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">FIDM</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">. I guess I start with stuff that fits well and put things together that work well. When I stop to think about it, which i usually don't, I guess I lean heavily towards classic sportswear working around classic items, collared button ups, polo shirts, pea coats etc, but worn in a slightly unusual way/accessorized with something interesting. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">What was the first garment you bought that you were proud of?</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">The First? I had a really cool sweater with an abstract pattern on it in middle school. I bet some hipster rescued it from the Good Will and is wearing it right now with leggings and frames with no lenses. </span><br />
<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br />
</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Who are your major style influences, both in the past and the present?</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Hmmm, I guess skinheads and what are called "Teddyboys." When I went though that really awkward Ska stage in middle/high school I thought they looked really cool. Wearing really traditional clothing, but in a self conscious way that still said "fuck you". I found that much more punk rock than people who sewed band patches to their jackets but wore ugly, thoughtless clothes otherwise. I had a total crush on Elvis Costello and I remember a middle school semi-formal outfit that was basically what he was wearing in the 80's, bolo tie and grey leather pimp shoes. All the other boys were wearing khaki slacks, navy blazers & topsiders. I'm sure I looked ridiculous, but who cares? </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br />
</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">What's the first thing that catches your eye when you walk into a shop?</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">The sale rack. I'm a Frugal Fannie. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br />
</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">What current trend bothers you the most?</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">Too many specific ones to count and they change day to day, sometimes hour to hour depending on where I am and who's around. But some good examples include:</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"></span><br />
<div><br />
</div><div> A) Conspicuous brand names(that applies equally to Old Navy or Marc Jaobs or anything else) This seems obvious and cliche-but somehow it persists despite being widely acknowledged as tacky, even by many of the people that still do it. Are we all in denial? </div><div><br />
</div><div> B) Gay guys carrying high end purses and pretending they are tote bags because they happen to be made out of canvas. Jack Spade makes tote bags. If it's $500 from Louis Vuitton, has brass hardware and a tassel on the zipper pull, then it's a canvas purse. FYI, my issue with this isn't men with purses (I'd love that). It's that they won't ADMIT they are carrying purses, and get all pissy when you call it one. </div><div></div><div>Overall I'd say people that are just brazenly thoughtless & lazy, and are clearly just wearing whatever the retailers are putting out in front of them (and that applies to those that shop at old navy, Marc Jacobs and everything in between). </div><div><br />
</div><div>If you were given a $5,000 giftcard what would you purchase?</div><div>I know this is a style blog, but I'd cheat and buy a new macbook pro. Then go thrifting with whatever is left over. I really don't buy high end, it never fits big boys. </div><div><br />
